Preface: How a Side Project Became the Heart of Ural’s Future
The idea of a lighter, street-oriented sidecar motorcycle in a new price segment first began to take shape in late 2024. At the time, it was simply meant to broaden our lineup and make better use of the infrastructure we already had.
As we searched for a sustainable path forward for our legacy production we started exploring new possibilities: different suppliers, alternative assembly locations, and potential partnerships.
That search led us to an unexpected discovery: the post-COVID manufacturing ecosystem in China had evolved faster than anyone anticipated. The level of precision, agility, and infrastructure there made one thing clear...if Ural was to continue, we had to reinvent not only how we build our bikes, but where, and ultimately, why.
